Normal academic activities are set to resume at the Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) on Monday, November 2, 2026, following the suspension of industrial action by university staff unions.
In a formal notice issued by Academic Registrar Dr Moses W. Wamalwa, the university announced that lectures and all related academic programmes will resume at 7:00 a.m.
The announcement follows the conclusion of the strike on Friday, October 30, 2026, which involved members of the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU), the Kenya University Staff Union (KUSU), and the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers (KUDHEIHA).
Senate approves revised academic calendar
To recover time lost during the industrial action and ensure the successful completion of the academic year, the University Senate has approved a revised 2026/2027 academic calendar.
Students have been advised to check the university's official website, www.tukenya.ac.ke, and other communication channels for the updated dates.
As part of the reopening arrangements, the administration has urged students with outstanding fee balances to clear them promptly.
Students have also been directed to complete their registration and sign the nominal roll to meet the university's requirements for participation in academic activities and upcoming examinations.
In its statement, the university expressed appreciation to students for their patience and cooperation during the industrial action.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the successful completion of the current academic year following the disruption.
Students seeking clarification have been directed to contact the Academic Registrar's office through info.academic@tukenya.ac.ke.
