Makueni Boys’ Chief Principal Francis Mutua has called upon parents to talk with their sponsored children over the holidays, encouraging them to work hard since some are jokers.

“It’s shocking sometimes when you find a sponsored student, either through bursary or any other sponsorship, joking in class instead of keeping jokes at bay and studying hard for the benefit of their future,” Mutua said.

He encouraged parents to inform their children that the sponsorship they receive belongs to the public. Children should appreciate the opportunity; thus, only their efforts, not jokes, are needed.

Other deserving students are working hard without that opportunity, so those sponsored must work hard to encourage the sponsors, teachers, students, and their parents as well.

He lauded the Makueni constituency Member of Parliament, Susan Kiamba, for her efforts to improve education. He added that a while ago, the MP called all the principals in Makueni and donated very nice revision books, which have greatly helped the students, courtesy of the MP.

“The books are on point, and boys are using them well. We are very appreciative of that,” Mutua said..

During the principals’ meeting convened by MP Kiamba, the principal spoke about disbursing bursaries to different beneficiaries. KSh 73.3 million will be issued to 18000 students in the constituency.
