The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has warned teachers and members of the public against a fake Facebook account impersonating its Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr Evaleen Mitei.
In a notice, the commission said the account using Dr Mitei’s name and identity is not affiliated with TSC and does not represent the commission or its leadership. “TSC would like to alert the public that the Facebook account purporting to belong to the Acting CEO, Dr Evaleen Mitei, is fake,” the commission said.
TSC urged the public to disregard any information, announcements or requests originating from the account, warning that the impersonation could be used to spread false information or facilitate fraudulent activities. The commission further cautioned teachers and members of the public against sharing personal information or sending money to individuals claiming to represent TSC through unofficial social media platforms.
TSC said its official communication is disseminated through its authorised channels, including its verified Facebook page, TSC Kenya, and its official X account, @TSC_KE.

The warning comes amid increased circulation of fake TSC notices and social media posts targeting teachers, including fabricated recruitment announcements and other messages purporting to originate from the commission. TSC has repeatedly urged teachers to verify information through its official platforms before acting on recruitment, promotion, employment or other notices attributed to the commission.
The latest warning is particularly significant as thousands of teachers continue to seek information on recruitment and promotion opportunities, creating openings for fraudsters to exploit unsuspecting members of the public.

TSC advised teachers to remain vigilant and report suspicious accounts or messages purporting to speak on behalf of the commission, saying members of the public should rely only on official TSC communication channels for accurate and verified information.
