Makueni County Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Director John Paul Wepoghe has urged all examination officers involved in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to conduct the exercise diligently and strictly adhere to examination rules.
Speaking during the opening of the examination container at the Wote Deputy County Commissioner's compound, Mr Wepoghe said the exercise had started smoothly and that any challenge arising would be addressed with the seriousness it deserves.
"Three weeks of serious business is not a joke. Candidates come first before anything else. We pray that no child falls sick and that they all complete the examinations safe and sound," he said.

Mr Wepoghe said the county has 416 centres, managed by 416 centre managers, 433 supervisors and 1,674 invigilators, bringing the total number of personnel involved to 2,939.

"In case of emergencies, call immediately. For girls who may be due, alert us for appropriate action. I wish you well," he added.
According to County Director of Education Lucy Resiato, a total of 30,468 candidates will sit the KCSE across the county.
Makueni Sub-County Director of Education Richard Ng'ang'a said examination materials had been released to 28 centres, including one private centre, with 2,870 candidates participating in the sub-county.
He said one candidate from Kambu was in hospital, while another from Kathonzweni was also unwell. Arrangements for their examinations were being made in consultation with Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) officials.
Makueni Sub-County TSC Director Daniel Ole Munyere said the sub-county has 51 centres, 51 centre managers, 58 supervisors and 262 invigilators, adding that all teachers are ready for the exercise.

"All teachers are ready to start and carry on with the exercise. So far, we have not experienced any challenge, and even though we are expecting El Niño rains, we are fully prepared," Mr Munyere said.

Makueni Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner Said Abdalla Mwamzungu said everything had started well and security agencies remain on standby.
"We hope that moving forward, there will be no challenge, and if any arises, it will be handled accordingly," he said.
