Laikipia University will tomorrow unveil a new bus to facilitate student participation in academic, sporting and other co-curricular activities.
The bus will be officially launched on Thursday, October 8, at The Pavilion in a ceremony expected to bring together the university management, staff and students.
Vice-Chancellor Prof John Kibett Rotich will preside over the ceremony and address the university community before the official unveiling.
The programme will begin with a prayer and blessing by the university chaplain, followed by a welcome and introduction by the Directorate of Corporate Affairs.
The event will also feature the presentation of awards to the top three students who participated in the bus design competition.
This will be followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony, official unveiling and photographs before students and university officials take part in a short inaugural ride.
Bus to support student activities
The acquisition is expected to ease transport challenges for students travelling outside the university for academic trips, sporting competitions, educational engagements, outreach programmes and other activities.
Reliable institutional transport is increasingly important as universities expand learning and student programmes beyond lecture halls.
The new bus is expected to improve student mobility and provide greater opportunities for learners to participate in activities that require travel.
The university has invited staff and students to witness the launch, which will be held under the theme “Be part of the journey.”
