The government through the State Department of Early Learning and Basic Education is conducting an audit on textbooks earlier distributed to all public schools in the country.
In a letter to county Directors of Education dated October 11, 2022 and seen by Education News, Secondary Education Director Paul Kibet on behalf of PS Amb. Simon Nabukwesi has asked County Directors of Education to collect data on the number of schools that did not get the text books at all and those that did not get enough books due to additional enrolment.
“The purpose of this letter therefore is to direct that you collect data from the schools with details of books needed per school in your areas of jurisdiction using the attached templates,” reads part of the memo.
Kibet indicated that the information is needed to enable the ministry supply the schools with the required books.
He further directed that the data should reach his office by Friday, 28th October 2022.
