A form four student from Kitungati location, Kitui county committed suicide by hanging herself using a rope under a tree.
The girl was a student at Kitungati secondary.
The deceased’s brother said that on Monday, the girl requested for new school shoes which she bought at Kisasi market.
She later went back home crying and vowed to drop out of school. Her parents interrogated her and she failed to give a reason for her decision.
To instill discipline in her, her parents beat her and she rushed to hide in a neighbour’s house.
“At dawn she left the neighbour’s house secretly and her body was found hanging under a tree far from our home. She left no suicide note,” added the brother.
The body was moved to Kitui referral hospital for postmortem.
