The mother of a Class Eight candidate who failed to secure Form One slot due to lack of fees has thanked Education News for coming to aid after highlighting her son’s plight.

Jacob Oloo, the student who scored 328 marks in KCPE was unable to join Otieno Oyoo High School where he was admitted.

His single mother, Caroline Kwerula could not afford fees for the school as she is not employed.

Kwerula said she only had Sh5,000 which was later accepted by the school management following intervention by Education News and the office of the Kisumu of education.

The distraught mother later sought assistance from Education News which in turn connected her to the Kisumu County Education boss Mr. Peter Munene.

Oloo sat his examinations at St Anne Ahero primary school in Nyando Sub-county.

The school management admitted the student unconditionally but advised the mother to find the school fee balance.
Kwerula thanked Education News and County Education Director together with the principal of Otieno Oyoo High school for the kind gesture.

Education Cabinet Secretary, Professor George Magoha, had ealier this month directed school principals not to reject students who report without fees.
