Human rights defender Mutisya Muviku has questioned why a teacher accused of defiling and sexually assaulting 12 pupils aged between 7 and 9 at Kikomba Primary School in Masinga Sub-County, Machakos County, has not been arrested.
Muviku is demanding answers from the police and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), questioning their silence even though the matter was reportedly reported to them.
"The police claim the man ran away, yet he is seen daily walking free. We have also been notified that he applied for a SACCO loan which is due. My only question is why TSC and the police are turning a blind eye on the matter and denying the kids justice," said Muviku.

Dr Gabriel Nyamai of Muthesya Dispensary said some of the affected children are receiving treatment after reportedly contracting infections.

Reports indicate that the children have recorded statements, the case has been reported to the police and the pupils have undergone medical tests. The tests reportedly showed that some of the children had contracted infections.

Parents are now calling on the Machakos police, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Ministry of Education to intervene, ensure a thorough investigation and protect the affected children.

The police, the TSC and the school administration had not publicly responded to the claims by the time of publication. The suspect has not been publicly named, and the allegations have not been tested in court.
