KNEC has allocated between 1 hour 40 minutes and 2 hours 30 minutes for most papers, with breaks between sessions. Special provisions have been made for candidates using Braille and Kenyan Sign Language.
The timetable also outlines project-based assessments ahead of the written papers. The Creative Arts and Sports project will run for three months from May to July 2026, while Agriculture and Pre-Technical Studies projects will each run for one month.
The assessment marks a key milestone under the Competency-Based Curriculum as the pioneer Grade 9 cohort transitions to senior school.
KNEC has urged candidates to prepare adequately, adhere to examination instructions and report to their centres as directed.
