The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has directed examiners selected to mark the 2026 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) to report to Mang’u High School on Monday, November 9, 2026.
In a notice signed by Chief Executive Officer Dr David Njengere, MBS, the council instructed the selected examiners to report to the marking centre between 2pm and 6pm.
The examiners will be required to carry a passport-size photograph for identification purposes, which will be attached to their name tags during the marking exercise.
KJSEA marking payment rates
KNEC has outlined the remuneration structure for the exercise, with examiners set to receive a daily coordination fee of KSh250 and a basic fee of KSh1,500.
In addition, examiners will earn KSh35 for every script marked, while travel allowances will be determined by their respective workstations.
The council clarified that the KSh35 payment per script will cover several responsibilities beyond the actual marking of candidates’ work.
These include entry of marks, electronic capture of results, cross-checking, adjudication and preparation of marking reports.
The arrangements form part of KNEC’s preparations to facilitate the marking process and ensure the assessment results are handled through an organised exercise.
The reporting instructions and payment details are expected to guide the selected examiners as they prepare to undertake the national assessment marking exercise.
