A teacher at St. Patricks Kisukioni Boys Secondary School in Matungulu Sub-county, Machakos County has been arrested after beating up a student to the point of breaking his arm.
Mercy Muli, the distraught mother of the student said that the teacher identified as Rogers Jakaiti assaulted her son in the school’s storeroom.
She narrated that her Form Three son was on Saturday night helping out a Form One entrant trying to identify another student who had stolen his bread.
The following day, the teacher was notified that the boy was causing fracas in the dormitories when he descended on him.
The boy escaped school and got the help of a local who gave him a phone to call his parents. His mother said that after the incident the school did not take the boy to the hospital for treatment.

“He has marks on his body and his hand is broken. The school did not tell me about the incident when it happened. I got to learn about it from a local who called and told me my son had a broken hand,” narrated the mother.
She added: “I came to the school and they agreed to take the boy back although they did not do it. I was forced to take my son for treatment and the administration did not treat us well when we tried to enquire the reason why he was beaten like a thief.”
She noted that she is concerned about her son’s security at the school from the way the management handled the matter.
“The administration told us they will cater for the fees the teacher will need in case we take him to court. I am worried about how my son will be treated in the future,” she said.
The matter was reported to the Kisukioni Police Post under the OB number 09\23\5\22.
The said teacher is currently cooling his heels at Tala Police Station awaiting arraignment in court on Wednesday.
Efforts to talk to the school principal, Titus Mutua Mukiti, turned futile as he refused to talk to the media.
