Syombua Mbete, a single mother of seven from Mwingi town, has appealed to well-wishers to help her take her three sons to secondary school.

Mbete said that her three sons scored 296 marks,252 marks and 245 marks  in 2021 KCPE at Kasina Primary School in Mwingi town.

She went on to add that she has another son at Tseikuru Secondary School and that she isn’t sure the son will report back to school since she doesn’t have money for his fees.

Mbete expressed optimism that if her children get educated, they will be able to lead a better life.

The middle aged woman stays in a single iron sheet room and at times, they get locked out of the house due to accumulated unpaid house rent.

“We live from hand to mouth. I always do casual jobs to make ends meet. However, at times, we go to bed hungry if I fail to get any job to do,” Mbete said.

Mbete’s first born Mirrium Mawia’s education was cut short after she completed Class 8 due to lack of school fees.

Mawia, a mother of one, pleaded with well-wishers to help educate her three siblings.

“I cannot stand seeing them stay at home like I did. We are in a very vulnerable situation and  we’ll appreciate any help from our leaders and all well-wishers.”Mawia said.
