Put TSC to work under the Education Ministry- government told.

By Florence Norah

Migori branch Knut executive Secretary has called on the government to submerge the teachers’ service commission under the umbrella of the ministry of education.

Mr. Calleb Opondi said the TSC has been overstretching its mandate by interfering with the welfare of teachers in the nation and therefore if placed to operate under the ministry such instances will be avoided.

“TSC should be placed to operate under the ministry of education because instead of developing teachers’ careers it has always been dwelling on interfering with the welfare of teachers whom are dedicated to their work,” said Opondi.

Opondi also called on parents to give support to teachers who are taking care of their children in school to fight the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) until all books required to teach the program are supplied to all public schools to ensure it is fully implemented and set to be operational.

“So many subjects have not been talked at the moment in various schools because the government has not supplied the respective books and therefore as a teachers union we stand firm on fighting the implementation of this program that will destroy the future of the current generation in school not unless it is implemented through the right procedures,” added Opondi.

He however warned teachers from joining Kenya women teachers association an organization meant to bring the feminine teachers together terming it to be unlawful.

“KEWOTA is unlawful and I therefore urge you not to join is however much the other members persuade you because they do not have the sole intention of developing your welfare instead they are targeting your little hard earned money.” He said. He added that the association has no interest of the teachers at heart and is out to predate on their minimal salaries they are still fighting for as a union to be raised to ensure teachers live a better life
