One pupil has died and nine others are receiving treatment at Kangundo and Mitaboni hospitals after being involved in separate accidents.

The two separate accidents occurred in Masokani along Koma-kenol road and at Nguluni along Kangundo road.

The Nguluni accident involved a personal car that hit two Countryside Educational Center pupils heading home for mid term break.

The driver told Education News at the accident scene that he was avoiding an overtaking car and swerved off the road.

The car however experienced a tire burst causing him to hit the two children.

“I was heading to Tala Girls High School from Nairobi to pick my child. On reaching the scene there was a vehicle overtaking dangerously, I did not want to collide with the oncoming vehicle so I got off the road but one of the tires burst and I lost control,” he said.

The two boys sustained serious injuries and one of them died on the way to Kangundo level four hospital for treatment.

Vehicle involved in the accident being towed to KBC Police Station in Malaa.

The second accident that occured between Koma and Kenol shopping centers involving a personal car was carrying eight pupils of Muindi Mbingu High School going home for the midterm.

The accident was confirmed by the school principal, Daniel Muli, who said the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled.

“The accident happened between Koma and Kenol. I was driving ahead of them when I heard a loud bang. On stopping, I noted the vehicle behind carrying eight students had crashed,” said Muli.

Four students who were seriously injured were rushed to Kangundo Level Four Hospital while those with minor injuries were taken to Mitaboni hospital.

The two vehicles have been towed to KBC Police Station in Malaa awaiting inspection.
