Probe launched after grade 3 pupil defiled, strangled to death

Police in Kagio town in Kirinyaga county have launched investigations over the death of a 9 year old grade 3 pupil whose body was found dumped in River Rwamuthambi with visible signs of strangulation and defilement.

Kirinyaga West Sub-County police commander Moses Koskei assured residents  that they are looking for the man who is well known to the deceased’s mother.

Caroline Wanjiru, the deceased’s mother, said she reported about her child’s disappearance at Kagio Police Station after she failed to return home last Friday.

“I got worried and informed my neighbours who circulated the news within Kagio locality,” she narrated.

According to residents, the deceased was last seen in the company of a trader who sells milk. They accused the traders of buying sweets for the girl before disappearing with her to an unknown place.

Meanwhile, the police are also investigation the case of a six year old boy suspected to have drowned in Nairobi River.

Police suspect the boy drowned as he crossed the raging waters after leaving school since his body was found dressed in uniform on May 14 in the evening.
