A man is fighting for his life in hospital after allegedly drinking acid in order to take his life therefore avoiding arrest after defiling a Grade Five girl.
According to the residents of Nyakeraboko village of Makara location in South Mugirango Constituency, the man has been a having a love a fair with a Grade Five pupil.
Matters worsened on Wednesday afternoon when the man picked the girl from school to his house for their habitual love making.
When the girl informed him that she was pregnant, it is said, the man gave her Ksh 100 and instructed her not reveal the pregnancy information to her parents.
She eventually shared the information with her mother upon returning home where the mother alerted the villagers who assisted her to take the girl to Etago Health centre where she was confirmed pregnant.
The residents vowed to lynch the suspect but were restricted by the clan elders who asked them not to take the law into their hands but instead to report the matter to the police.
When he learnt that he was being sought by the police from Etago station, the man locked himself in his house and drunk the acid with the intention of killing himself to avoid police arrest.
When his wife heard him groaning with pain in bed, she alerted his brothers who rushed him to St.Joseph’s Tabaka Mission Hospital.
The hospital authority identified him as a 50-year old man known by the name Omenyi from Makara location of Etago Sub-county in South Mugirango Constituency.
