The Government of the Republic of Iran will sponsor 12 Kenyan students from tertiary institutions to take part in an International Friendly Skills Competition to be held in May 2024 in Iran, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kenya, Ali Gholampour, has said.

He disclosed this during a courtesy call he had paid to Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Education Ezekiel Machogu in his Jogoo House office.

Gholampour said that the competition will comprise mobile application development, web technologies, IT network system administration, IT software solutions for business, mechanical engineering CAD and graphic design technology.

Machogu underscored the cordial relations between the government of Iran and that of Kenya saying that they had resulted in the mutual benefits for the peoples of the two countries in many sectors of the economy.

He thanked the Ambassador for the forthcoming support in the competition, saying that the exhibition was in line with the emphasis the Kenyan government had placed on the promotion of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.

The CS said that cooperation between Kenya and Iran in education, science and research issues will create opportunities for Kenyans to learn from the excellent education and training institutions.

Amb.  Gholampour further said that his government will, under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), give full sponsorship to between 20 and 50 students to study in Iranian Universities.

It will also give partial scholarships to students who pass entry-level examinations, while talented students will be given full scholarships to study various courses in higher education and training institutions in Iran.
