Kisii County Education Board Chairman Prof Henry Onderi has lauded secondary schools in the county for their improved performance in 2021 KCSE exams.
Speaking in his office, the chairman singled out Kisii High School, Riokindo Boys High School, Kiage Tumaini Boys High School and Nyakorere Mixed SDA Secondary School for their improved performance.
“Nyakorere performed well. 19 candidates qualified for direct university admission up from 6 in the previous exams,” he said.
The Professor attributed the impressive results to cooperation from all education stakeholders in the region.
He went on to add that no exam irregularities were reported in the area and thanked parents, teachers and all the candidates for their resilience through a tough academic calendar occasioned by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I would also like to urge parents, teachers and candidates to forget about the glory achieved in the last exams but to put their best foot forward in the coming national exams,” he appealed.
The long serving Chairman reminded parents to be conversant with all examination calendars to enable them prepare their children adequately for the exams.
He concluded by calling upon all the newly inaugurated school Boards of Management across the county to hold special consultative meetings geared towards laying strategies for academic excellence.
