Desmond Langat is the new Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) executive secretary, Bomet branch.
This is after emerging the winner in a by-election on March 23, 2024 held at St Michael Secondary School in the county.
The KNUT Bomet remained vacant after the elevation of Joseph Malel Langat to the position of the first Vice Chairman during the 63rd Annual Delegates Conference on March 10, 2024 held at Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani in Nairobi.

The post of chairman also remained vacant after the demise of Joseph Kimutai Cheruiyot, which through by-election is supposed to be filled.

The aspirants for various posts attended the nominations on March 22, 2024 at St Michael Secondary and later elections on March 2024.
William Sossion, the former KNUT secretary general congratulated the new executive secretary and encouraged him to work to uplift the living standards of teachers and improve the education sector in the county.
