1500 benefit from Kshs 10m NG-CDF bursaries kitty

Over 1500 needy students from Kajiado East Constituency have benefitted from Sh10 Million bursaries from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) kitty.

According to Kajiado East Member of Parliament Peris Tobiko , 1,212 secondary, 145 University and 177 college students have benefited from the kitty as well as 51 others who would get full scholarships.

She was speaking while handing over the cheques to the beneficiaries at the NG-CDF offices in Kitengela town where she clarified that selection of the beneficiaries was done by a committee from each of the 20 locations adding the criteria ensured that only genuine cases were considered.

“We have 20 locations in Kajiado East Constituency. Each location has received Sh500,000 which will be divided among the needy students from that location. More than 1500 students are set to benefit from the bursary kitty,” she said.

The MP noted that besides issuance of bursaries, her office also funds construction of classrooms, libraries, toilets and dormitories in a bid to promote education by providing a conducive environment for learners. She warned school heads against misappropriating CDF funds urging them to exercise transparency so as to ensure infrastructure in their schools are improved.

She also said the CDF kitty would fund 100 even bodaboda operators to undergo road safety awareness training by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
