Nyabisia Secondary School in Masige West Ward, Bobasi Constituency, has benefited from Sh4.9 million for the construction of a modern administration block.

Speaking at the institution on Monday, Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri Momanyi said the money was secured from the NG-CDF Board under the Best Practices Initiative in recognition of prudent resource management by the NG-CDF committee.

He said his constituency was among only 11 out of the 42 constituencies in Nyanza that were fortunate to be awarded the money.

During the meeting, Obiri, who was accompanied by Bobasi Constituency NG-CDF Chairman Daniel Oreri and Constituency Fund Manager Samuel Karuru, laid the foundation stone for the administration block and said it was expected to be completed early next year.

School infrastructure challenges

Nyabisia DEB Mixed Secondary School is a public mixed day secondary school located near the busy Mogonga Trading Centre in Masige West Ward, Bobasi Constituency, Kisii County.

The school is sponsored by the County Government of Kisii and serves learners from Masige West and surrounding villages.

The school has been facing infrastructure challenges due to increased enrolment following the 100 per cent transition policy, with an acute shortage of offices, laboratories and classrooms.

School records impressive KCSE performance

In last year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, the school posted impressive results.

The school presented 99 candidates and attained a mean score of 7.06, equivalent to a mean grade of C+.

Out of the 99 candidates, 71 scored C+ and above, qualifying for university entry, representing approximately 72 per cent of the candidates.

The MP said the new administration block would house the principal's office, deputy principal's office, staffroom and boardroom, creating a conducive environment for both teachers and learners.
