Workers at Machakos Level 5 hospital who had gone for six months without Salaries yesterday sighed with relief after receiving their dues.
The workers said they will now pay school fees for their children who had accrued huge balances due to the delays.
“We have been paid our dues and we can now pay school fees for last term which had accrued due to non payment of salary,”said Catherine Munyi.
One of the workers said she had a child with special needs at home and the salary delays had worsened the situation.
“I have a child with special needs at home and the situation is worsened when our salaries are delayed,”said Ms Charity Muhia, one of the cleaners.

The hospital cleaners had last week disclosed to a Senate Committee on Health which had toured the hospital about their salary arrears.
County Executive Committee Member for Health Mr. Justus Kasivu said the cleaners were not County government staff but were hired by a contractor who had already received payment from the County government.
He said the County government had commenced investigations to find out why the contractor had been delaying payment to the workers.
Mr Kasivu said action will be taken if the contractor was found to be in breach of terms of contract.
“We always pay the Contractor his dues and we have commenced investigations to find out he is not paying the workers,”said Mr Kasivu.
He urged Senator Agnes Kavindu to push for funds owed to the hospital through the Social Health Authority (SHA) instead of politicizing health issues.
Senator Kavindu led the Senate Committee to the hospital last week.
