Veteran Bungoma teacher feted for his exemplary job

David Wakhungu, a long-time serving teacher from Kimilili constituency was feted by the state during this year’s Mashujaa day for his exemplary work in the teaching fraternity.

 Addressing journalists after he was  given a present by Bungoma county commissioner Samuel Kimiti, Wakhungu revealed that he has been in the teaching fraternity for over 34 years and has served as a school head for 29 years.

“I have served in this fraternity for a long period. I have enough experience to give guidance to other school heads,” he said.

He lauded the state for recognizing him and revealed that he had also been posted to poor performing schools so that he  uses his vast experience the uplift the performances in those schools.

Wakhungu, who has served in the Boards of Management of several schools in Bungoma County, is currently the B.O.M chair of Ndivisi Boys High school in Webuye.

He asked parents and school managements to ensure that students are given correct guidance to curb the ongoing unrests in Kenyan schools.

‘Students should also distance themselves from burning schools and instead focus on their education,’ he said.

He affirmed that he will double his efforts in serving the community and empowering young teachers.

During this year’s Mashujaa celebrations, four people were feted for their good job in the society.
