Varsity don installed as Bishop in colorful ceremony

A lecturer at University of South Africa’s (UNISA) Baraton College has been consecrated as a Bishop in the Church of Christ in Africa (CCA).

Dr. Amos Ouma Odera was elevated to the Episcopal office during a colorful ceremony presided over by the Church’s Archbishop, the Most Rev. Dr. Patrick Ligawa at Uasin Gishu High school in Eldoret town.

Dr. Ouma becomes the first Bishop of Eldoret Diocese which was launched on the day of his consecration.

Prior to his elevation, Dr. Ouma was an Archdeacon in charge of Kitale and Eldoret parishes which hitherto were under Kisumu Archdiocese.

In his acceptance speech, the bishop observed that in Kenya; unity, communion and dialogue are fragile especially during electioneering period.

He called upon the political class to provide space for political tolerance adding that this will not only help to build peace but also enhance good governance.
