US Embassy announces opportunities for Kenyans to teach Kiswahili in America

The United States, US Embassy in Nairobi has announced the 2026-2027 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTAs) program calling on Kenyans to apply.

In press statement released on Wednesday 23, the US embassy said that the successful candidates will have opportunity to teach Kiswahili in America as well as gaining professional and cultural exchange experience.

“Apply for the 2026-2027 Fulbright FLTAs program and teach Kiswahili in the U.S while gaining valuable professional and cultural exchange experience,” the statement reads.

The program is fully sponsored by the U.S department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).

According to the US, the program offers Kenyan educators a chance to live and work in America as well as offers grants to qualified Kenyan graduates students to study in the United States

They may also apply to do research at the U.S institutions through the Fulbright Visiting Scholar program.
