The United State of America has donated 152,332 face masks to public primary and secondary schools in Uasin Gishu County.
Speaking to the press after giving the donations, the US Ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter said this will avert the spread of the Covid-19 amongst the learners.
“Today we have donated 152, 332 face mask to Grade 4, Standard 8 and Form Four students who are now back to school. Our central aim is to ensure that students are not infected with the coronavirus,” said Mr. Kyle McCarter.
He also affirmed that the United States will continue helping schools by donating face masks across the country.
The US Ambassador further donated 7,000 reusable face masks to Rivatex East Africa Limited which will be used by the staff and Moi University students.
Uasin Gishu County has so far reported over 1500 cases of the Covid-19 and over 20 lives has been lost.
On the other hand, County Executive for Health Evelyn Rotich urged school heads to keep on fighting the pandemic by following the measures put in place by the Ministry of Health.
