Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has intensified tracking down of teachers opposed to the implementation of new curriculum.
The commission has interdicted 160 teachers from eight counties for interfering with a recent training of 91,320 teachers.
TSC has accused the teachers of insubordination, infamous conduct and incitement on support officers deployed to train teachers on Competency Based Curriculum.
The affected teachers include head teachers and executive secretaries from Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) have until May 26th to defend themselves.
Commission’s head of communications Kihumba Kamotho confirmed that interdiction letters had been signed by TSC County Directors and dispatched to affected teachers.
KNUT wants the implementation of CBC stopped until teachers have prepared themselves to handle it. Kisii County alone has 41 teachers facing disciplinary action.
