A tutor’s expectant wife is alleged to have committed suicide alongside her three-year old daughter on the evening of 12th June at their house in Kadika, Suna East constituency.
According to a ‘Nyumba Kumi’ elder and neighbour, Samwel Okombo, he got wind of the news on Tuesday night at 7:30 pm after efforts by the husband to call at the door went unanswered. He then called fellow community members to the scene.
“On arrival at the scene, they struggled to break the door which was locked from inside. Luckily after about half an hour they managed to get into the house and upon reaching the bedroom, they found the expectant woman and her three year old daughter dangling on a sisal rope tied on the roof,” he said.
According to the elder, Candeva Muvinya, 26 and the husband who is a teacher at Migori Boys High school had marital issues.
The deceased’s body and that of her child were taken to Migori Referral Hospital awaiting post mortem examination.
Suna East sub county Police Commander, Esau Echorokodi while confirming the incident said they had launched investigations into the matter.
