Matulo Girls High School in Bungoma County’s Webuye West Constituency has come up with an innovative way of assisting needy students through a welfare programme that seeks to keep all children in school.

The noble initiative, which was unveiled during their Annual General Meeting (AGM), will see the rising number of bright and needy students missing out on school due to lack of school fees reduced.

School Principal Florence Ludenyo said the programme will help this group of students stay in school and finish their studies.

It comes barely a year after the principal took over the reins of leadership.

“I refused to sit pretty and watch as the ghost of poverty presides over the pursuit of success,” she said.

The launch was graced by area Member of Parliament (MP) Dan Wanyama, who urged well-wishers to contribute and make sure no needy child cuts her education short because of money.
