On 29th June 2020, Ugari Secondary School Principal was arraigned in Migori High Court for allegedly killing his 17 year old daughter.
It is reported that the accused heavily and inhumanely descended on his daughter after finding her with a friend of the opposite sex. The slain form four-student -passed on while undergoing treatment at Migori Referral Hospital.
Appearing before Judge Justice Dickens Onyango, the accused whose name was established as Rades Apida pleaded not guilty and he was released on a cash bail of 500,000 with a surety of a similar amount.
According to the suspect’s lawyer Mr. Kerario Mwita, the prosecution had demanded to have the suspect detained for the next ten days as the investigators closely and carefully look at the case. However, the court later agreed to have him released on bond but he will be required to report at DCI offices, Uriri branch starting from 30th June to July 6th.
While speaking to the journalists, Mr. Mwita said that they are looking forward to getting a friendly ruling citing that the accused would rather face charges of manslaughter instead of murder. However, the case will be mentioned on 6th July 2020.
