Candidates from five secondary schools in the Kerio Valley belt have received a major boost ahead of this year's national examinations after benefiting from a philanthropic gesture by a local professional.

William Kirui, a professional from Arror, donated examination equipment to KCSE candidates in a move aimed at motivating them as they prepare to sit for their final examinations.

The beneficiaries received geometrical sets, logarithm booklets, pens and clipboards to aid them during the examination period.

The beneficiary schools are Barsumbat Secondary School, Kapkata Secondary School, St. Benedict Arror Girls Secondary School, Koitilial Secondary School and St. Thomas Kobulwo Secondary School.

Speaking during the distribution exercise held at Kapkata Secondary School, Kirui took the opportunity to give motivational talks to the candidates, urging them to remain focused, disciplined and determined despite the challenges they face.

He inspired the students with stories of his own struggles while growing up in the Kerio Valley area, noting that hard work, resilience and faith in God enabled him to overcome poverty and achieve his professional dreams.

"Do not let your background limit your future. I grew up here facing the same challenges you are facing, but education changed my story. You too can make it," Kirui told the students.
School principal welcomes donation

Kapkata Secondary School Principal Thomas Chemelil thanked the professional for the gesture, terming it a perfect way of giving back to society.

Chemelil said the donation was timely as candidates enter the final stretch of their revision and would go a long way in ensuring no student misses an examination due to lack of basic stationery.

"We are very grateful to Mr. Kirui. This is what we call true community spirit. He has not forgotten where he came from and this donation will motivate our candidates to work harder," said Chemelil.
