Retired teacher, three others perish in Kisii accident

Four people, among them a retired teacher, have lost their lives after being involved in a fatal road accident along Rongo -Kisii highway.

The accident occurred today morning at 10.00. Ten other victims are receiving treatment at St Joseph’s Tabak Mission Hospital.

James Maticha, one of the eyewitnesses, said two Nissan matatus had a head on occasion and that god samaritans rushed to the scene to rescue the injured

Kisii County Traffic Commander Eric Githinj confirmed the deaths, noting further that the survivors were responding well to treatment.

He appealed to the motorists and drivers to careful on the roads in order to avoid more accidents.

The accident occurred barely five days after another accident  happened along Kisii -Kisumu Road.

An old woman and her grandson Jared Nyangaresi , a student at Kisii University, lost their lives after being hit by a speeding lorry that lost control on their way back home on a motorcycle after a Sunday church service.

The two bodies are preserved at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.

The hospital CEO Enock Ondari confirmed the incident and appealed to the traffic police to arrest and prosecute those who ignore traffic rules.
