Students and staff of Kisii University will gather this evening for a candle-lighting procession in memory of the late student Hyrence Akoth, whose registration number is CB13/05409/23.
The vigil is scheduled for today, Thursday, November 5, 2026. It will begin at 6pm at the Fruit Centre before moving towards the university's main gate.
In an announcement issued on November 3, 2026, the Kisii University Students' Association (KSUSA), through Secretary General Eugene Omanga Moturi, invited all students and staff to join the procession and pay their last respects.

Student leaders said the gathering is meant to bring the university community together in unity and support during a difficult period for the campus.

The KSUSA executive council has called for strong attendance across all departments and years of study, saying a good turnout will show the institution's solidarity with those closest to the deceased.
The initiative is also intended to offer comfort and emotional support to the family, close friends and fellow students as they mourn.
