Region behind KNUT Secretary General

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) officials in the Rift Valley region have reaffirmed their support to the embattled secretary general Wilson Sossion.
Led by the region’s National Executive Committee (NEC) member Josephat Serem , the KNUT official insisted that Sossion was still their Secretary General.
“As teachers from the Rift valley region we fully support our secretary general and we urge the so-called acting SG Hesborn Otieno to go slow since he cannot handle the teacher’s issues as the way Sossion was doing”, Serem said.
He reiterated that Sossion was duly elected by the Annual Delegate Conference (ADC) and it is only the same organ that can show him the door urging them to follow the constitution.
Meanwhile, the National Parents Association has asked warring factions within the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) to sit down and solve their issues instead of bringing them to the public.
Speaking to Education News recently, the association’s national chairman Nicholas Maiyo said the stalemate can only be solved through dialogue and not sideshows as it has been the norm.
“As parents, we are not happy with the way KNUT leaders are fighting each other and this not good for teachers. This can create anxiety and could be transferred to children leading to poor performance,” said Maiyo.
