328 adult education learners in Mombasa county have been registered by the Ministry of Education to sit for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE ) in the region as private candidates.
Speaking to Education News from Mombasa town recently, Mombasa county director of Adult Education Mr. Franklin Karanja said that 255 adult learners will sit for KCSE while 73 adult learners will sit for KCPE.
He asked the adult learners to study extra harder in order to post impressive results.
He urged those who did not complete their standard eight and form four courses to join literacy centres near them to continue with their education.
He also asked adult education teachers in the area to improvise reading materials which are suitable for their learners, arguing that learning materials being provided by the government are not enough.
Karanja urged adult education stakeholders in the county to work tirelessly in order to make the adult education programme a success
He further asked Non – governmental Organisations operating in the region to support adult education programme in a bid to promote education in the county.
