The parents of Kioge Girls School in Kisii County have praised the community policing teams for acting quickly to arrest a woman who sold illicit beer to the students.
According to the area community policing chairman Mr. Patrick Omuko, his team was tipped by the public about the seller of the illicit brews near the school. That is when they set the trap to arrest the suspect.
Omuka led his team where they found the woman selling the beer in the disguise of selling water to learners across the fence.
“The illicit beer was packed in small bottles and cups then hidden in a large packet from where she dished them to the students across the fence,” reported the Chairman.
He identified the suspect as Nancy Mokeira who is said in the business of selling illicit liquor for a long time.
‘This is a show of consolidated effort to safeguard the lives of our children at school,” commented Mrs. Lisper Nyaboke, a parent at the school.
The suspect was said to have moved from Jokivilla apartments in Kisii town to the school neighborhood.
The Police in Kisii Central Station confirmed the arrest, saying that the suspect will be arraigned in court.
The arrest comes barely two months after another brewer was arrested near Nyabigena Secondary School after an arson case where two dormitories were reduced to ashes.
