Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has invited leaders from the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) to attend the World Talent Conference (WTC 2026), which will be held in Kisumu from Monday, October 26, to Friday, October 30, 2026.
Nyong'o invited deputy governors, senators, Members of Parliament, County Executive Committee Members (CECs), Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) and other political, administrative, educational and community leaders to the event, which he described as historic.
The governor also called on youths, students, universities, TVET institutions, schools, community organisations, cultural groups, artists, innovators, business leaders and members of the public to turn out in large numbers.
The conference will feature activities at several designated venues in Kisumu, including The African Talent University (TATU) and other venues, as provided in the official programme.
Nyong'o said hosting WTC 2026 reinforces Kisumu's growing position as a destination for international conferences, education, innovation, investment, tourism and cultural exchange.
"The County Government of Kisumu welcomes this opportunity and calls upon all residents, institutions, public agencies and businesses to extend their fullest cooperation and hospitality to our visitors," he said.
He said the conference presents a unique opportunity for young people to showcase their abilities, interact with international experts, discover partnerships, access new markets, develop enterprises and build networks that can transform their lives.
"We recognise and appreciate the World Talent Federation, the African Talent Federation, the African Talent University, the WTC 2026 Secretariat, participating institutions, development partners, sponsors and all stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to bring this conference to our country," he said.
The governor urged everyone to take part in the WTC 2026 Grand Procession on Monday, October 26, 2026, which will begin at 7:30 am at the Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground in Kisumu. It will proceed to TATU in the Buoye-Mowlem area of Kisumu County, which serves as the head secretariat and principal host venue of the conference.
African Talent University founder Prof Humphrey Obora said preparations for the event were complete, and that the main campus at Buoye will serve as the main event secretariat.
He said the conference will include sports and recreational activities such as football, and that organisers expect innovations, partners and other talents. Upcoming musicians and other talent categories will also feature, with all activities monitored by scouts and mentors.
Obora said the conference will be free to attend and that close to 5,000 guests are expected. He said all guests will be accommodated within Kisumu town and that only registered service providers will deal with them.
