Maseno University has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of one of its students, Arnold Shigochi, whose outstanding academic achievements had earned him recognition as one of Vihiga County's promising young scholars.

Shigochi, who was pursuing his studies at the university, was among the beneficiaries of the Vihiga County scholarship programme initiated by Governor Wilber Ottichilo to support bright and needy students.
A promising academic journey cut short
He distinguished himself academically while at Kisumu Boys High School, where he scored a straight A in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), emerging top of his cohort.

His exceptional performance opened doors to further education and placed him among the students expected to make significant contributions to society through their academic and professional pursuits.

His untimely death has left a deep void among fellow students, university staff, his family and the wider Vihiga community, with many mourning the loss of a young man whose academic journey had inspired hope.
