Kaiboi National Polytechnic has secured three championship titles at the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) Rift Valley Regional Ball Games, with its men's football, men's volleyball and women's volleyball teams booking places at the national competitions.
The institution's men's basketball team also delivered a strong performance, finishing second to give Kaiboi a total of four podium finishes across the sporting disciplines. The victories saw the polytechnic emerge as one of the standout performers at the regional event, with its teams demonstrating skill, teamwork and determination in their quest for national honours.
The men's football, men's volleyball and women's volleyball teams each finished in first place, while the men's basketball side settled for the runners-up position.
The latest success adds to Kaiboi's sporting history, with the institution having previously recorded notable performances in inter-institutional competitions. In July 2017, Kaiboi hosted the Rift Valley Technical Training Institute Sports Organisation games, where its men's and women's volleyball teams defeated Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) 3-2 in their respective finals to claim the titles, underlining the institution's competitive strength in volleyball at the time.(Education News Kenya — https://educationnews.co.ke/news/kaiboi-national-poly-clinches-three-regional-katti-titles-to-book-national-slot)
Kaiboi has also produced talent capable of competing beyond institutional and regional levels. According to the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI), former trainee Sylvia Jelagat Kemboi won the South Rift regional athletics championships in 2022 before progressing to national competition. She later represented Kenya at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Mauritius, where she won a bronze medal.
The latest regional victories reflect the dedication of the student-athletes, their coaches and trainers, as well as the institution's continued investment in extracurricular activities that help develop teamwork, discipline and leadership.
With three regional championships secured, the teams now turn their attention to the national competitions, where they will face opponents from other regions in pursuit of further success.
The challenge for Kaiboi will be to maintain the momentum from the regional games and translate the victories into strong performances on the national stage.
For the institution, the three titles mark another significant sporting achievement, while the qualification offers its teams an opportunity to showcase their talent on a bigger platform.
