Mwea Primary School have emerged winners in the singing game category under Class 802G at the ongoing National Music Festivals in Kisumu.
The Embu school managed to beat contenders to defend the title they had bagged back in 2019 before the Festival was put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The learners displayed the creativity advocated for in the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) by incorporating designed costumes made from sisal robes and hats from carton boxes into African traditional cultural dances.
The Mwea Primary School ECDE class will now have an opportunity to perform before President William Ruto at Kisumu State Lodge during the State Gala on September 24th, 2022.
Embu County was also represented by Gangara, Iveche, Kirima, Kiarimui, Mashamba and Michegethiu ECDE classes.
While the Mwea Primary ECDE learners used fly whisks made out of sticks and strings, learners from Gangara ECDE had shades of brown on their faces to blend their brown-beaded costumes.
It was evident that the learners had grasped the songs well by how they rendered them in exemplary fashion while also incorporating costumes that captured the moments.
