Moi University students demonstrated recently calling on the government to credit their HELB loans into their accounts.
Speaking to the press their leader Felix Kwemoi, said: “It’s sad that Moi University students have not gotten their HELB loan for the past three months.”
“We are disappointed with the government for failing to remit our HELB loans. How are they expecting us to survive yet we have just come from post Covid hard times during which our some of our parents lost jobs?,” posed Kwemoi when he spoke to Education News in Eldoret town.
Sharon Kiptoo said they are now forced to sleep without food due to the government failing to release the funds.
“It is sad that we are now sleeping hungry because the government has refused to release the funds, what did we do to deserve this. If HELB is not in a position to meet our demands they should just resign,” Kiptoo said.
