The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has maintained that it does not support the ongoing delocalization of teachers by the Teachers Service Commission.
According to TSC, the policy that involves the deployment of teachers away from their home counties is meant to address staff shortages and strengthen national cohesion.

Speaking at Majengo Mixed Secondary School in Bondo during KNUT branch 18th Annual General Meeting, the National Assistant Secretary General Mr Collins Oyuu said that the move was not in the best interest of teachers, arguing that it will separate them from their families.
“If the Government was sincere on issues of national cohesion and integration, it should have allowed the introduction of the subject and made it examinable in the curriculum,” he said.
But Bondo KNUT branch executive secretary Mr Gilbert Ndolo said the policy will not work.
Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda who attended the meeting, however, called on the union to be proactive in checking the Government.
