Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja this morning led a team of top police commanders to Central Police Station, Nairobi, where they addressed the media following the controversial death of social media influencer Albert Omondi Ojwang.
Ojwang died while in custody after being arrested for false publication. According to police, he sustained fatal head injuries after allegedly hitting a cell wall. He was rushed to Mbagathi Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The visit by IG Kanja follows public outrage and growing calls for accountability.
The NPS has since interdicted several officers who were on duty during the incident and confirmed that the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched a probe. The Service pledged transparency and respect for human rights during the investigation.
