The Public Service Commission (PSC) has called for applications as 9 Vice Chancellors (VCs) and 12 Deputy Vice Chancellors (DVCs) from notable public universities around the country proceed to retirement.
The vacant VC positions are in the following universities; Pwani, Karatina, Kisii, Tom Mboya, Machakos, Kabianga, South Eastern Kenya, Alupe, Technical and University of Eldoret.
On the other hand, varsities seeking Deputy Vice Chancellors (DVCs) include; Tom Mboya which seeks one in academic, research and innovation while Alupe seeks two – academics, research and student affairs and administration, finance and development.
Further, Karatina has two vacancies in academic, research and student affairs, planning finance and administration while Kisii needs DVC administration and finance and the University of Eldoret seeks one for academic and student affairs.
Machakos has one vacancy in administration, planning and finance and South Eastern Kenya seeks DVC for academic research and innovation.
At the same time, the retiring dons have called on the government to look for a way to reward them for improving education standards in the universities.
