Family Group Foundation (FGF), a subsidiary of Family Bank has offered scholarships to 10 needy form one students in Nyeri county.
The students join a list of 110 students, who have benefited from the scholarship in 11 counties which are Nyeri, Bungoma, Kisumu, Kiambu, Kajiado, Mombasa, Makueni, Meru, Murang’a, Nakuru and Uasin Gishu.
The scholarship will cater for both tuition and the upkeep of the students.
Family Group Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Mbithi said the scholarship is part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
She urged the beneficiaries to use the scholarship to transform their lives.
The institution will also organize mentorship programmes to mentor beneficiaries so that they can excel in both their education and career development.
Family bank founder Titus Muya said they will work with counties and parents to support education through the foundation which will pay fees for the scholarship beneficiaries throughout the four years of their secondary education.
Francis Muraya, the foundation’s board of Trustees chairman, asked guardians and parents to support the students so they can become helpful to their families and the community in future.
‘By joining secondary school, you are entering a crucial stage in your education life that will determine your future. Target joining universities after your secondary education.’ he told the beneficiaries.
Governor Mutahi Kahiga thanked the bank for the support especially at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic had ruined economies.
The executive director of the Family Bank Foundation John Waimiri was also present during the award of scholarships.
