The National Forum of County Public Service Boards Annual Convention is scheduled to take place in Kisumu from November 9 to 13, 2026.
According to the forum's Vice National Chairperson, Joseph Oreta, the meeting will bring together the leadership of the National Forum of County Public Service Boards and other stakeholders. The Kisumu County Public Service Board will host the event.
Mr Oreta said the County Government of Kisumu and key national agencies, including the Kenya Wildlife Service, the Kenya Maritime Authority, the Kenya Airports Authority and the Kenya Ports Authority, will also attend the forum.
He spoke when forum members paid a courtesy call on Kisumu County Commissioner Mohamed Mwabudzo at his office.
Mr Oreta said the stakeholder engagement focused on finalising security, protocol, transport, logistics and hospitality as Kisumu prepares to welcome delegates from all 47 counties for the national gathering.
He said issues to be discussed during the week-long forum include staffing, training and challenges affecting county public service boards.
Mr Mwabudzo said adequate security will be provided for the delegates throughout the event. He said the people of Kisumu are welcoming to visitors and urged local business people to take advantage of the large number of guests to make money.
He noted that many boards face challenges ranging from patronage to undue pressure from the public, who expect a lot from them.
Kisumu County Public Service Board Chairman Dr James Obondi said the board does not tolerate any form of graft. He said no member of the board is allowed to solicit money from the public, and that any such incident must be reported to the relevant authorities immediately it occurs.
Dr Obondi said the board relies on merit to hire staff.
