Egerton Varsity alumni to build Sh40m hostel facility

By Beatrice Jepkosgei

A Sh40 million students’ hostel facility is to be constructed by the Egerton University Alumni Association to enhance effective teaching and learning.
The National Secretary of Egerton University Alumni Association Joseph Wolukau made this known recently during the election the university’s chancellor.
He indicated that the alumni association had realised that Egerton University lacked hostel facilities and added that the institution had a few hostels.
Wolukau said many students faced challenges of finding suitable hostels around the institute and, therefore, the decision to construct the hostel facility was to address the challenges that students of the institute faced.
The construction of the proposed modern hostel facility by the alumni will therefore end the struggle and augment the already existing but limited facilities at the university, he stated.
Walukau also added that they are expecting the chancellor who will be appointed to guide the university growth in terms of infrastructure, accommodation and leadership.
