Makueni sub county Director of Education Yophes Magara has called upon students to take sports seriously since they may be a form of employment for them after studies.

Speaking to Education News in his office he called upon parents and teachers to help in identifying different talents among their students especially sports and help to nurture them.

“Sports are a form of employment but again there are those who are good in games but poor in class. It is alright for students to invest their time in sports and academics in equal measure so that by the end of the day, they will have nothing to lose,” he said.

He congratulated teachers for doing a commendable job in preparing the students for the competitions within short notice.

Magara further noted that all the county level primary music festivals were held at Makindu, Secondary Music Festivals at Wote Technical while ball games were held at Makueni Boys’ high school.

“Well, everything went as planned and we did not have any serious indiscipline cases. I thank the students for that. I wish all the teams which proceeded to nationals the best. I am sure others will make it to East Africa level as well,” he said.
