Bungoma school mourning principal

Maliki Boys High School fraternity in Tongaren Constituency, Bungoma County have been thrown into mourning following the demise of school Principal Mr. Geoffrey Okwach Otieno.

Otieno died Wednesday 6th October 2021 while receiving cancer treatment in an Eldoret hospital.

The late was the pioneer principal at Mabole Boys Secondary School in 2010 and has served before as Deputy Principal at St. Stephens Shiatsala Secondary in Butere Constituency, Kakamega County.

In a condolence message read by Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Otieno saw Mabole Boys rise in student population from 29 to 540 with the number of teaching staff also increasing from the initial six under Board of management (BOM) to a total of 26 teachers, 16 on TSC and 10 on BOM.

Oparanya further stated that the school’s first attempt in 2013 national exam, Mabole yielded exemplary performance recording a mean score of 8.2 points, securing position 12 nationally and being best Sub-county school in Kakamega County.

The governor added that during Otieno’s tenure, the school was ranked best nationally in utilization of economic stimulus funds and that in 2018, Mabole boys emerged the best in KCSE in Kakamega County.

Oparanya said that death had robbed the region and the country at large adding that the teacher’s fraternity has lost the most brilliant teacher who proved outstanding academic and administrative management credentials.

Oparanya said that Otieno was a dedicated servant who gave the institution best management to be seen so far.
